WHO WE ARE
We are The Movement House, a movement school helping educate you on the capabilities of our minds and bodies through all different styles of movement.
We will guide you slowly and safely into
exploring the possibilities of the human body by changing the way we approach it.
Our team are passionate, knowledgable and caring. They strive to grow in their passions for movement through continuing to educate themselves in many disciplines and philosophies to ensure we can keep our strong community growing and moving together.
We will welcome you in with open arms and an open mind to help you develop and deepen your personal practise, while connecting with an ever growing community. You'll find no egos here!
Create a body that is intelligent, resilient and adaptable.
is a word from Zen Buddhism meaning
It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level,
just as a beginner would.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
''The Movement House is much more than a studio, it is a community; a space to grow, to be challenged, to stop and breathe, to be. When I started at TMH, I felt lost and disconnected and over the past 8 months, Lisa and her team have guided me back to myself through movement and the strong sense of community which is at the heart of all that they offer. TMH is a rare and special place, of which I feel truly blessed to be a small part of.''
Laced in history, this 200 year old building is the home to a strong community of moves, all working hard to become the best versions of themselves through movement.
We are big believers in 'No man is an island' and that collaboration is key to building a stronger community. Due to the effects of COVID-19 we are unable to open
The Movement House original smaller space and have moved our school next door into The Leith Arches in collaboration with The Wellness Hub Leith, a multi-functional space.
While we continue to follow government guidelines for yours and our safety, we will be working from a reduced schedule to ensure enough time for cleaning in-between classes, along with reduced spaces to ensure social distancing.
The 200 year old Leith train station Arch way, would usually hold 30 mats on the mezzanine level and a further 40 mats on our lower level.
We also have an outdoor area for when the Scottish sun graces us with her presence. This space can hold a further 20 mats.
This space is available for hire, contact us to discuss availability
We would usually provide mats, all props and water but due to government guidelines we ask you to bring your own mats, props and water.
Also to arrive ready for class where possible to decrease cross over time
until we are informed otherwise.
There is a ban on single use plastic bottles in the space.
